Recycling the plastics of printer cartridges?

Name:
Ivan Barkley

I am based in South Africa, and interested in recycling the plastics of laser and inkjet cartridges. Most laser cartridges are marked with PS and is mostly black in colour or grey.

Is it possible to produce timber plastic with this type of pastic material?

What other uses are there for this material?

What type of equipment will I need to make this a viable recycling option?

Kind regards,

Ivan Barkley

There are numerous answers to your enquiry. In essence there are 2 recycling routes:

1. Many manufacturers take them back and reuse them (at least they do in the UK)
2. You can take them in, reprocess them and then make a product. It would be possible to make wood polymer composite although you would probably need to use soome additives for impact resistence etc.
