Query about separating metal from plastic during the recycling process

Name:
Nat

I'm curious to know when a can made of metal/alluminum and a plastic component is built into it (i.e. the plastic is not removable), how do they separate the plastic from the metal/alluminum during the melting process during the recycling?

Some aerosol cans have a nylon liner bag inside the can to isolate the propellant from the contents e.g. shaving foam, whipped cream etc.
I don't think they try to separate the materials.
The plastic, paint, nozzle all burn off when the aluminium is melted.
There are of course many other items where separation is not viable.
Take a ketchup bottle: P.P + nylon or EVOH all fused together with an adhesive in between the layers.

What can you make with the composite material - fence panels?
