Our products are 'mission critical' handheld devices made of plastic materials. How do we ensure that the plastic materials fully meet their specification without carrying out destructive testing to prove that each moulding is OK

I have had a look at your website to see the sort of equipment you make and the answer is you cannot test every moulding to see if it will fail in service. All you can do is have extremely robust designs with high safety factors, specification of materials which perform beyond the application requirements, exemplary manufacturing process and 100% visual and use of non destructive inspection techniques such as ultrasonic crack detection. However if the design and material selection is right (having been determined and refined by application testing) and the manufacturing under tight control you should be able to develop the confidence to reduce the amount of inspection which is carried out. High quality is designed and built into products not inspected into them. If you wish to consult with us on this subject we would be happy to meet with you.
