Could You give me information related to reprocess...

Name:
Stoyan Vartovski

Could You give me information related to reprocessing of plastics and especialy for PA 6 and PC materials? Is there any material properties change (e.g. electrical, mechanical and physical properties) when several steps of reprocessing are applyed (raw material injection moulding-regranulating of surplus material-injection moulding of regranulated material)? Thank you for your cooperation in advance!

Provided thermoplastics are processed correctly each time e.g. not using excessive temperature or holding them at elevated temperatures for extended periods of time then they can be reproceesed many times (at least 6) without any significant loss of properties. The yellowness index of the material will increase slightly and there may be a small decrease in impact strength and small increase in melt flow index. There is also the risk of contamination. Thermal stabilisers in the material are used up every time the material is reprocessed and additional stabiliser is sometimes added by reprocessing companies when they are repelletising the material.
