Comparison between HIPS and polystyrene

Name:
Ray Pierce

We recently changed our pot supplier, for another type of polystyrene. The new ones are standard polystyrene whereas
the old ones were HIPS. Although the pots are the same weight plastic and gauge - the new ots are not withstanding the heat (c.75 Deg.Cent.)of liquid filling. We have also noticed that
MEK solvent attacks the standard polystyrene, but not apparently the HIPS.
Why the differences?
