I am looking for industry advise on materail selection for a seat foot rest.
Chemical resistant to: nicotine, aircraft interior cleaning fluids, alcohol, and organic acids (per Airbus seat specification)
Fireworthiness: If a rigid material, not an elastomer: must pass JAR 25 Appendix F part I, 60 second vertical burn test (must self extinguish, mean burn length less than 6”, flame must extinguish in less than 15 secs).
If an elastomer, must pass JAR 25 Appendix F part I, 2.5 inches per minute horizontal test.
Operating temperature range; -15C to +55C. Non operating, ground survival temp range -55C to +85C
Environment: Pressurised section of aircraft cabin, flooded with Ultra Violet from windows, fluorescent lights and LEDs. In continuous use for 13 hours per day, 6 days per week for up to 7 years. 2 flight sectors per day. Use/misuse by untrained members of the public.
Scratch, Abrasion and Tear Resistance – at least one order of magnitude better than silicone elastomer
