suitable plastic for insulating a heating unit in a hazardous area

Hi,
Could anyone please suggest the best plastic that could be used to fulfil the following:

I have developed a heater for use in the natural gas industry that requires some insulation to reduce power consumption.
Initial thoughts were to use modlag (http://www.promat.co.uk/pdfs/modlag.pdf) but this product is capable of doing much more than I need and therefore looking for a cheaper alternative.

The insulation will be required to operate in standard conditions from -50 to +75C. The heater is self regulated at +75C with a thermal fuse at +128C in case of failure of the regulator device. Therefore, any product must be able to go to this temperature without risk of ignition due to it being in a hazardous area (it is ok if the material degrades as the component will be scrapped if the heater regulation fails, but there can be no risk of ignition or decomposition)

The plastic used could be injected and allowed to cure, or pre moulded/machined depending on cost, ease of assembly, time, etc.

The insulation needs to fill a void that is basically a tube shape (2" ID, 4" OD) with 6 holes to be machined or moulded in to allow through bolts. Expecting to require 100-300 units per year. The lower the density and lower the thermal conductivity the better

Any suggestions greatefully received, first thoughts would be a form of PU but suggestions, manufacturers, etc would be great

Material selection for large biomass storage tank

Hi,

I am currently designing a large storage tank to hold 9400 Litres of Biomass. I need a material that can withhold that force, withstand bio/chemical attack without any sign of decay for 20 years +. I am undecided about what manufacturing method to design this tank for. What are the limitations of rotational moulding for a tank that is approx 2m cubed? I am worried about cooling issues that could affect its strength. Aesthetics aren't an issue as this tank will be concealed. Performance is key.

I was wondering if you can tell me how much petroleum would go into making a unit of plastic. I assume that different types of plastic would have different % of petroleum as component. Can you please give me as much detail as possible?

Expert Witness Required.

We are looking for an expert witness to test some samples of 280mm UPVC pipe which was connected using bonded cement. The system subsequently failed and we believe the client did not connect these pipes properly together. The end of the pipe was not square or chamfered. Plus looking at a cross section sample it is evident that the cement was not applied thoroughly. I am just lloking for an expert in this area to back up our claim, I am just enquiring as to how much would it cost to do some testing on these samples along with a technical report of why it failed and if needs be act as an expert in court. I look forward to hearing from you in regards to this matter.

Could you please advise what type of additives are normally used in processing the Polyolefins? Are they always in form of powder or they are also used in pellet forms?
