How can we recycle plastic bags
We are a large comprehensive school that has been running a very sucessful bag swap - 5 plastic for one cloth bag. We now have nearly 4000 plastic carrier bags. I would love to be able to show the children a product made from plastic bags - ideally i would like to be able to deliver the actual bags to the company and then buy a selection of products from that company so the students understand the whole process. But I will if necaseeary recylce the bags at my local centre and purchase examples. Can anybody help?

Help selecting a plastic please

I'm looking to select a plastic and my criteria is very simple:
1.- It must be very tough but not brittle.
2.- It must be able to cope with temperatures below minus 50 degrees C without loss in its properties.
3.- The plastic must also lends itself to injection moulding.
The plan is to first machine my prototype from a strip of L600mm x W65mm x H15mm. Then after trials and test, go into production with injection moulding. I have had 30% Glass Filled Nylon suggested but the cost for my strip comes out at £32.00, which leads me to believe that my injection moulded part will be way too expensive. I'm looking at around £2.00, maybe £5.00 per part. Can somebody suggest a cheaper plastic? Given my criteria?

I'm looking for a safe/environmentally friendly resin
Hi, I work with school children developing art projects and have come up with an idea for using plastic bottle tops and metal lids for mosaic work. I would like to develop this method for outdoor use and thought about polyester resin to pour over the finished mosaic design to set firmly in the ground and become weather resistant. However, i am concerned about this material being far from environmentally friendly and not in-keeping with the re-cycling ethos of the project. Could anyone suggest an alternative material or provide me with more info of how these resins are made?

10GPa or better Young's Modulus Plastic

I'm trying to develop a product and Im looking to source a stiff plastic. Something with a Young's Modulus of 10GPa or better. I can source beads that would do a 17GPa plastic but I need 2 bars of 580mm long x 65mm wide x 15mm thick. Once I have finished with the development I'll go into the production but I am some way from that at the moment.

identification marks of supplier on base of pack
Hi There!
I am looking for some direction relating to plastic manufacturers identification marks on the base (predominantly) of bottles.
We had a book (quite old) but the previous purchasing manager took is when she left!
In our business, we mainly provide private label solutions and sometimes need to tool up new bottles similar to existing - in the current climate we are looking at a different approach as bottle suppliers are quite keen to supply 'off the shelf' packs.
Only problem is identifying the suppliers via their logo on the base....

We run a recycling company and have many reel of plastic both LDPE , PP , PVC etc .
We want to compound this material which is on a reel ( of different sizes ) . What piece of equipment do we need to buy to process the film on a reel ?

We are seeking a method to measure the thickness on a continuous basis of extruded plastic sheet in PS black. Sheet is 0.2 to 2.0 mm thick - 950 mm wide.
Need to be certain that the sheet is even across the width and remains within specified thickness.
