Manufacturer needed for obsolete windscreen trim high value Lotus cars

I am dental surgeon working in Blackpool and have obtained your contact details from BPF on recommendation of one of my patients who has had dealings with your organisation in the past. I have an interest of many years running and restoring old Lotus cars and recently found I could not obtain a part despite contacting everyone I could think of in England and America. It became obvious that Lotus no longer was interested in making this part and they were going to let it die. There are still several hundred of the cars requiring this trim part and a new source needs to be found. I have tried since November to get a manufacturer for this piece but realised I do not know enough technical details to find the right supplier.

I have attached pictures of the part which goes round the windscreen of the Lotus Elan +2 and Lotus Europa. It is a soft plastic with a thin metal insert that can be bent and rollered into place on the car as the windscreen is fitted. The metal insert gives it a nearly chrome effect and bends with minimal creasing if done well, I suspect it is an alloy of aluminium or just plain anodised aluminium. However I am aware that plastics now can give a chrome effect on their surface and the metal insert may not be necessary. The plastic was moulded to the windscreen when warmed in hot water and the screen was warmed with a fan heater so the plastic has some softening when heated. I only have some 10cm of unused trim to get dimensions off so I will have to be careful where it goes, all the rest would be second hand and consequently stretched

Any help you can give in sourcing someone to make this would be appreciated, it would be a small batch but high value item. It may be too expensive for an individual to commission but I am in contact with Paul Matty Sports cars and Europa Engineering in Southport who may help fund this project as they will need it to restore customers cars.

Any help would be appreciated even if it is only to tell me the correct technical terms needed to source the part in question.
Many Thanks Stephen Woodhouse

Substitute for plywood

I am looking for a substitute for 3/4 plywood.
I used to use plywood for outdoor yard cutouts and since it has become so pricey, I thought that there might be some type of plastic that is available.
It would need to be easy to cut, smooth surface, and be paintable to withstand the outdoor elements and available to a home hobbyist.

I would prefer to be able to purchase in sheets of 4'x 8'.

I would appreciate any comments on this subject....

Thank you,
Linda

Plastics and Cement

Hi

Firstly just want to say thanks to the forum I have learned alot already just by browsing.

I am helping develop a product involving the mixing of cement, but I am having trouble locating data such as strengths, abrasive resistant qualities etc etc. I have got as far as polyurethane as a raw material but even the information I have on this is sketchy to say if it can resist cement mixing on an industrial scale.

So my question is could somebody point me in the right direction interms of websites or books where I can find this kind of information, I understand there are alot of consultants on here that could tell me in a flash but our start up capital is extremely limited.

I would really appreciate any help

Thanks again
